Kathmandu April 8: Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, is set to participate in the 3rd BIMSTEC Agriculture Ministerial Meeting (BAMM) in Kathmandu, Nepal, on April 9, 2025.

The one-day event will bring together agriculture ministers and senior officials from BIMSTEC member nations, including India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, and Sri Lanka. The gathering aims to foster greater regional cooperation and promote development in the agricultural sector across the Bay of Bengal region.

On the sidelines of the ministerial meet, Shri Chouhan is scheduled to call on the Prime Minister of Nepal, Shri K.P. Sharma Oli. A key highlight of his visit will be the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on agricultural cooperation between India and Nepal. The agreement will be formalized during his meeting with Shri Ramnath Adhikari, Nepal’s Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development.

Additionally, Shri Chouhan will hold a bilateral meeting with Shri Younten Phuntsho, Bhutan’s Minister for Agriculture and Livestock, to explore avenues for mutual collaboration. He is also expected to meet Shri Indramani Pandey, Secretary General of BIMSTEC, to discuss potential areas of partnership between India and the BIMSTEC platform in agriculture.

The minister’s engagements underscore India’s commitment to strengthening regional ties and advancing sustainable agricultural development across South and Southeast Asia.
