BKS to Launch Agitation in Rajasthan from June 15

Jodhpur: The Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) will launch an indefinite agitation from June 15 at all divisional headquarters of Rajasthan demanding better crop prices and solution to long- pending demands of state farmers.

Talking to Smart AgriPost the farmer leader Ratan Lal Daga said the government has done nothing for farmers and failed to ensure the right price of their produce. The agitation will continue till the government accepts all the demands of the farmers, Daga has said.

According to the BKS, the government has been indifferent to its demand for completion of the ongoing projects on time and this does not augur well for the prospects of irrigation.

Daga said the sorry state of the farmers has come to such a sorry pass that they have not been able to get even the input cost on their crop. The Government has not heeded to our demand for determination of suitable prices of all the crops and this has forced the farmers to sell their produce in the market at a price, lower than their input cost, said Daga.

Among its other demands, the revision of the crop insurance scheme is also high on the agenda of BKS. Other demands of BKS include summoning the special session of the state assembly for the solution to the problems of the farmers, providing electricity to the farmers at a cheaper rate and banning GM mustard seeds.
