New Delhi, December 2 : Government has released the cost of production and Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for six major Rabi crops for the Rabi Marketing Season (RMS) 2026–27, ensuring farmers receive assured returns over their production expenses.
MSP and Returns (₹ per quintal):
- Wheat: Cost ₹1,239; MSP ₹2,585; Return 109%
- Barley: Cost ₹1,361; MSP ₹2,150; Return 58%
- Gram: Cost ₹3,699; MSP ₹5,875; Return 59%
- Masur (Lentil): Cost ₹3,705; MSP ₹7,000; Return 89%
- Rapeseed/Mustard: Cost ₹3,210; MSP ₹6,200; Return 93%
- Sunflower: Cost ₹4,360; MSP ₹6,540; Return 50%
The Government procures eligible crops at MSP through designated agencies, giving farmers the flexibility to sell either to the Government or in the open market. Rising MSP levels have boosted farm incomes, as reflected in procurement figures from RMS 2025–26.
RMS 2025–26 Procurement:
- Total Procurement: 310 LMT
- Total MSP Value Paid: ₹79,267 crore
