
Chennai to Get India’s First Ornamental Fish Tech Park
Mangalore: India’s first Aquatic Rainbow Technology Park (ARTP) is all set be operational in the next three months in Chennai, Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) Chairman A Jayathilak has said.
A Jayathilak was speaking at the inaugural function of the Aqua Aquaria India 2017, billed as the largest show in Asia focused on the aquaculture and ornamental fish sectors.
Billed as a swanky facility for ornamental fish, the park is equipped with multi-species hatchery and live feed culture units. The establishment of the facility will meet the outstanding need to produce high-value aquarium fish on a mass scale.
The Rs 10-crore facility is being developed by Fisheries College and Research Institute (FCRI), Ponneri in Tamil Nadu, the second largest exporter of ornamental fish after West Bengal.
