CIAE training to set up farm machinery and agro-processing custom hiring centers

COIMBATORE: Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering Regional Centre (CIAE RC), Coimbatore organized an eight-day Model Training Course on Establishment of Farm Machinery and Agro processing custom hiring centres for entrepreneurship development here from Tuesday.

Dr. Bakshi Ram, Director, Sugarcane Breeding Institute(SBI), Coimbatore inaugurated the training programme.

Twenty trainees from Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry (2), Telangana (2) , Andhra Pradesh (2), Kerala (2), Karnataka (1), Orissa (2), West Bengal (1), Assam (2) and Goa (2) participated in this training programme.

During the training, participants were briefed on updates of technologies on farm mechanization and agro-processing for various cropping patterns and agro-climatic zones of the country with a special reference to establishment and operation of custom hiring centres. They also visited successful farm machinery enterprises.

During the valedictory function on August 9, Dr T Senthilkumar, Senior Scientist and Course Director presented a brief report on the training programme. Dr C Divakar Durairaj, Dean Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, TNAU, Coimbatore released the Training Hand Book and distributed the certificates. He urged the participants to implement the custom hiring projects effectively by adopting the technologies learned in the training programme.

Dr JK Annamalai, Head of the Centre chaired the both the inauguration and valedictory functions. Dr R Naik, Dr MM Selvan and Dr R Senthil Kumar were the Course Co-coordinators.
