
Consumer Mela held to address consumer grievances
New Delhi: More than 2000 visitors have participated and registered their grievances for counseling in the Consumer Mela, which was organized by Department of Consumer Affairs (DoCA) at Central Park, Connaught Place here Thursday. This event has generated enough enthusiasm among the consumers.
The aim of this event was to bring the consumers and companies face to face and resolve the grievances to the extent possible. It was an opportunity for the consumers to register their grievances on the spot.
National Consumer Helpline (NHC) Stall registered more than 200 visitors. State Bank of India reported that 100 visitors visited their counters with different queries and suggestions. About 60 visitors have registered the grievances about misleading advertisement in Advertisement Standard Council of India(ASCI) counter. FSSAI had also 250 visitors.
Apart from National Consumer Helpline, BIS, FSSAI, NTH, NCDRC, Weights and Measures and reputed private companies have also participated in good numbers in the event. There were 50 stalls put up by participants.
While wrapping up of the Mela, Secretary Department of Consumer Affairs (DoCA), Hem Pande has urged all the state governments to organise such events in their respective States and Union Territories to educate and empower the consumers.
