Ethiopian Bureau of Agriculture Delegation Visited KVK, ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: A 19-member delegation from Bureau of Agriculture, Ethiopia along with two faculty members of BASIX Academy for Livelihood and Micro-enterprises Promotion, Hyderabad visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra, ICAR-Central Research Institute of Dryland Agriculture and Hayathnagar Research Farm on Friday as part of their six-day study program.

Dr. M. Prabhkar, Principal Scientist and Programme Co-ordinator, KVK briefed the delegation about the role of CRIDA in Dryland Agriculture and the various extension activities by KVK in Ranga Reddy District. Filed visit was organized to the KVK-model watershed, wherein they were explained about the watershed concept, rainwater harvesting structures and water conservation measures. Live demonstrations of drip irrigation, micro sprinklers, vegetable cultivation on raised beds, plastic mulching and on-farm low cost vermi-composting technique was well appreciated by the visitors. 

The Ethiopian delegation showed keen interest in the fodder cafetaria where 18 species of fodder are on display, and different livestock units viz., sheep, goat, Deoni cattle breed maintained at the farm. The delegation actively interacted with KVK staff on the extension methods and linkages with State Agriculture extension and Private industry in dissemination of technologies..

The subject matter specilists of KVK participated in the program, which was organized under the guidance of Dr.Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, CRIDA, Hyderabad.
