Farmers to be given Soil Health Card

Chandigarh: The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare announced at a conference in Chandigarh on Tuesday that over 14 crore farmers will get Soil Health Cards by  2017.

Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Radha Mohan Singh said that the government has taken a good initiative for farmers which will bring prosperity to them.

The ministry has been allocated Rs 368.30 crore  this year for the Soil Health Card scheme.

The ministry has decided to set up 150 seed hubs in the country to increase the production of pulses. Each hub produces 1000 quintal of quality seeds which will be provided to farmers.

The premium under the Prime Minister Fasal Bima Yojna scheme has been reduced significantly with full coverage of the losses.
