Focus on value addition and processing to increase farmers’ income, MoS FPI

Kanpur: In order to create awareness about doubling farmers’ income, value addition in agriculture, crop diversification, C.S Azad University, Kanpur and Ministry of food processing and Industry, Government of India jointly organized a one day seminar on “Opportunities of Industrial food processing in Uttar Pradesh “ at KVK Fetahpur  last month. 

While addressing the gathering, Minister of State for Food Processing Industries, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti said that it is needed to give more importance towards industrialization of agriculture and the small scale industries should focus on increasing the food processing, thereby helping farmers increase their income. She also further added that farmers of Uttar Pradesh should be aware of various government programmes and schemes.

She also urged the farmers and food processing industries to work jointly and make these programmes successful in the state. 

Minister of Industries of Uttar Pradesh, Satish Mahana also garced the occasion and spoke on the importance of processing of agriculture produce to help increase the income of the farmers.

Among others, Dr. Sushil Solomon, Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Jitender Singh Yadav, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Dr. S. B Paul, Dr. Aasha Yadav, Dr. Sadhna Vais, Dr. Alka Kariyar and Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Singh spoke at length about the need to encourage value addition and processing of the agriculture produce. 

About 150 farmers, women farmers and students had also participated in the seminar.
