Goa government to extend ban on fish import
Panaji: The Goa Government has decided to extend the 15 days ban on import of fish from other states in the wake of the controversy of formalin in fish.
Replying to a question in the Assembly, Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar said that more than 116 samples taken from various fish markets across the state did not find formaldehyde in fishes.
However, the government has taken a decision to extend the ban of import of fish from other states keeping the health of the people of the state in mind.
The opposition parties have been protesting against the alleged ‘formalin’ substance in fishes in the state. The government has imposed ban on import of fish since July 18 for a period of 15 days.
