
Govt to launch Rs. 6000-cr ‘SAMPADA’ scheme to reduce food wastage
With a view to reducing food wastage and doubling farmers’ income, the government plans to launch a Rs 6,000-crore scheme, Sampada wherein the current and new schemes in this regard will be integrated.
Announcing this, Union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, said, “We will shortly launch an umbrella scheme SAMPADA for overall development of the food processing sector. It will include ongoing schemes like mega food parks and cold chain projects as well as three new schemes that we will launch,” Badal told reporters here.
Scheme for Agro-Marine Produce Processing and Development of Agro-Processing Clusters (SAMPADA) will integrate current and new schemes from mega food parks to cold chain projects and introduce three new schemes – creation/ expansion of food processing and preservation capacities, new agro-processing clusters, and backward and forward linkages.
