Govt. to procure groundnuts at MSP from Gujarat

New Delhi:  In a relief to ground nut farmers in Gujarat, centre has agreed Tuesday to procure groundnuts from the state at minimum support price (MSP).

The Agriculture Minstry has directed by National Agriculture Corporative Market Federation (NAFED) and Small Farmer’s Agri-business Consortium (SFAC) to initiate the procurement immediately at minimum support price (MSP) plus bonus at Rs 4220 per quintal.

Gujarat government had sent a proposal to theMinistry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare to start the procurement of Groundnut under Price Support Scheme (PSS) in Gujarat during current Kharif season, 2016-17.

Groundnut prices in Gujarat have fallen below the minimum support price (MSP).

The Agriculture Ministry has given approval on 2nd November, 2016 for implementation of Price Support Scheme for procurement of Groundnut in the State of Gujrat during the current Kharif season.
