ICAR-ATARI organised annual zonal workshop for KVKs

GUJARAT: A three-day Annual Zonal Workshop for Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) of Rajasthan and Gujarat inaugurated at Anand Agricultural University, Anand  on Monday. The event  was organised by ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Jodhpur

Dr. A.K. Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR and Chief Guest of the event, urged to assess the impact of important agricultural technologies for its horizontal expansion. He appealed to develop the joint action plan of KVKs with Agricultural Technology and Management Agency (ATMA) and other departments to avoid the duplication and dilution of efforts at district level. He said there is dire need to ensure the follow-up action on the recommendation of soil health cards for its application at field by the farmers. He appealed to SAUs and KVKs are to be equipped with the planting materials/seed for farmers. He also emphasised on the climate change and water management issues.

Dr.N.C.Patel, Vice-Chancellor, AAU, Anand in his presidential address, emphasised to reduce cost of cultivation while using limited natural resources. He appealed that impact of Transfer of Technology Program is needed by KVKs and SAUs. He informed that the importance of micro-nutrients is realised in the Gujarat state and convergence with other departments has taken much root. He expressed his concern on post-harvest technologies to generate the income and employment. He also realised the importance of information technology and Community Radio for inclusive agricultural growth.

Dr.S.K.Singh, Director, ATARI Jodhpur gave an overview on centrally sponsored schemes and projects being executed in Rajasthan and Gujarat.

Directors from ICAR institutes, officials from KVKs, State Agricultural Universities and ATARI, Jodhpur participated in the workshop.
