ICAR DG urges scientists to develop district specific crop plan
KANPUR: In his address to scientists and programme coordinators of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) during his visit to ICAR-Zonal Project Directorate, Zone IV,Kanpur, Dr. S Ayyappan, DG, ICAR stressed on developing the district specific crop plan, collection of indigenous germ plasm and planting materials, forming Farmer Producer Organizations as well as Women Organizations and making more frequent field visits.
Dr. Ayyappan also highlighted the status of XIIth plan EFC and advised the Programme Coordinators and Scientists of KVKs to make their impact on the indicators of footfalls, multiplier effects of the technologies demonstrated, actual reduction in the disease and pest incidence with reference to the particular crop and the outcome against the benchmarking. He urged the KVKs to enhance yields to the extent of 25 to 30 per cent by using varietal and other interventions. He also interacted with the Progressive Farmers.
Earlier, Dr. Atar Singh, Zonal Project Director welcomed DG and other guests and presented the detailed accounts of the Krishi Vigyan Kendras in the States of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. He highlighted the new initiatives taken by this Directorate to increase the performance of KVKs.
Programme Coordinators and Scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) of the districts Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat, Barabanki, Pratagarh, Unnao and Auraiya attended this meeting. An exhibition was also arranged the on this occasion.
