IFFCO signs MoU with Mauritius Co-op Fed

New Delhi: Cooperative titan IFFCO signed an MoU with Mauritius Cooperative Federation (MCAF) when a delegation from MCAF led by its Chairman Mr Nundlall Basant Roi came visiting its headquarters in Delhi on Tuesday. The MOU, among other things, aims to boost the international cooperative movement.

While MCAF Chairman Mr Nundlall Basant Roi signed the MoU from Mauritius, A K Singh, Director Cooperative Relation represented IFFCO. Those representing Mauritian team included MACF Treasurer Satidanand Ghurhoo, Director, Satyavanoo Gopal and General Manager, Dineshsing Goburdhun.

Besides A K Singh, those present on the occasion from IFFCO included its MD Dr U S Awasthi. Marketing Director Yogendra Kumar and Tarun Bhargava.

Highlighting the importance of  MoU, IFFCO MD Dr Awasthi tweeted “A #cooperative delegation from #Mauritius visited #IFFCO. Glad to share that #IFFCO signed a MoU with Mauritius Cooperative Agricultural Federation ltd for a mutual partnership to share best practices, create mutual opportunities, provide exposure, devp professional relationships.”

Being a fertilizer manufacturer of repute IFFCO has been helping Mauritius in technical know-how. “It was also aimed at tech exchange between co-operative to cooperative”, said Yogendra Kumar who was witness to the signing of the MoU.

Tracing the long history of cooperation between IFFCO and MCAF, Kumar said in the past IFFCO had helped set up a fertilizer unit in Mauritius. Both of us have again vowed to promote co-op business, Kumar added.

IFFCO also aims to cater to their micro-nutrients needs. “There are certain organic fertilizers such as Sagaraika which are not available in their country and we wish to supply them the same”, Kumar explained.

Interestingly, Ramdev Dhurandhar a versatile Hindi novelist from Mauritius won IFFCO’s ‘Shri Lal Shukla Memorial Sahitya Samman’ for the year 2017. This is the first time that the IFFCO award crossed national boundaries to honour a writer who depicts the struggles of Indians abroad.
