Kisan Sammelan-cum-exhibition organized at Baramulla

BARAMULLA: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Baramulla organized Kisan Sammelan-cum-exhibition at Town Hall Kunzar here on Wednesday.

Abdul Quyoom Sheikh, SDM, Tangmarg, Chief Guest of the event, suggested that KVK would undertake convergence programmes with other schemes like MGNGREA, Vermicompost production unit etc. to multiply the effect of development programmes and enhancing livelihood security of rural poor.

Guest of Honor, Dr. A.A. Sofi, former Director, ICAR-Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture, Srinagar, briefed about prospects of temperate horticulture crops in Baramulla district and focused on technologies available at different parts of the country as well as in other counties . He talked about new varieties and technologies developed for apple, walnut, apricot and cherry cultivation

Dr. D.B. Singh, Director, ICAR-CITH, Srinagar presided over the programme.  He hightighted about the new technologies available in Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal husbandry and allied sectors. Dr Singh also discussed on high density planting, new varieties of cereal, fruit, vegetable and fodder crops.

About 250 farmers, farm women and rural youths from 30 different villages of the Baramulla  district, 30 official from agriculture, horticulture and animal husbandry department of state and representative from district information office, education department and other developmental department  of state as well as central Government  and NGO’s participated in the event.
