
M S Boje Gowda to Head Coffee Board
Bengaluru: M S Boje Gowda, a renowned planter from Chikmagalur in Karnataka, has appointed as the Chairman of the Coffee Board of India. Gowda will have a tenure till December 2018.
With his appointment Gowda became the first non-IAS to be at the helm of the Bengaluru-headquartered Coffee Board, after an interregnum of almost 70 years. Coffee Board is the highest decision making body of the coffee sector, under the Ministry of Commerce.
In a similar move, the well known tea planter from Assam Prabhat Kumar Bezboruah was appointed as the chairman of the Tea Board of India.
