MP to host an international workshop on nutrition- sensitive agriculture
Bhopal: Government of Madhya Pradesh along with Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) is organizing a three day International Conference on ‘Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture and Nutrition Literacy’ from May 14 to 16 at The Amer Greens, Bhopal.
The prime objective behind this conference is to harvest ideas about the production of various nutrient-rich food and income generation that can ease the health services and reduce adulteration of water sources. The conference has prioritized 6 themes comprising Innovative practices to promote nutrition-sensitive agriculture and food security, Capacity development of women institutions /SHGs/FIGs/FPOs, Value chain and village trade related issues, Enabling suitable governance and policy Nutrition Literacy and Improving Maternal, Child Nutrition.
The workshop is being organized with the collaboration of Department of Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development, Government of Madhya Pradesh, Department of Women and Child Welfare, ICAR Atar, Jabalpur, UNICEF Madhya Pradesh, International Fund for Agriculture Development and Deendayal Research Institute, New Delhi. The conference envisions bringing together different countries to understand the contribution of nutrition and Nutrition-sensitive agriculture in improving health outcomes in the country.
Also, this will be the conclusion of the series of various events that have been organized in the year 2016-17 including Workshop at Chitrkoot, Bhopal and Shillong for Agriculture and nutritional sector.
