Hyderabad: With a view to helping farmers identify their crops disease, pest and nutrient deficiencies, the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi Air Tropics (ICRISAT), in association with Progressive Environmental & Agricultural Technologies (PEAT), a German start-up, has brought out a plant damage diagnostic app.
The app is called Plantix and has been developed by PEAT which specializes in IT solutions for agriculture.
Plantix is a massive database of thousands of programmed pictures of plant diseases which can be analyzed for comparison. It helps in identification, diagnosis and treatment of the disease associated with the crops.
Currently, Plantix has been tailored to be used in the Telugu-speaking states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, and will be introduced in other states at a later stage.
