NICRA Annual Workshop at CMFRI, Kochi
KOCHI: Two-day National Annual Review Workshop of the “National Innovations on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA)” project was held at ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) on Thursday and Friday.
Dr. S.Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE & Director General, ICAR, inaugurated the workshop. He complemented NICRA team for the significant progress and mentioned about the importance of product oriented research to address the occurrence extreme weather events. He further mentioned that the Village Resource Centres should become climate counselling centres and emphasized the need to work with the farmers and help them find solutions to their problems related to intra and inter seasonal climatic variability.
Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director CRIDA presented the overview of NICRA and explained about the expectations of NICRA and way forward.
About 200 Scientists and experts from 40 Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and State Agricultural Universities have participated in the deliberations of workshop.
