Ninth installment of PM-Kisan releasing on Monday
New Delhi, August 7: The 9th instalment of the PM-KISAN funds will be released to the bank accounts of more than 9 crore farmers across the country on coming Monday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will transfer the amount to the 9.75 crore beneficiaries at 12.30 PM via video conferencing, interact with farmers and address the nation.
According to a government statement, Rs 19500 crore in total will be disbursed among the farmers.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, Rs 6000 is extended to the farmers annually in three equal instalments to supplement the income of small and marginal farmers. So far, 1.38 lakh crore has been transferred to the farmers.
As per some reports, about 50 lakh farmers are yet to get the money transferred to their bank accounts from the last transfer owing to various factors. The West Bengal Government, which joined the scheme late, has blamed the Centre for not including the names of about 9.5 lakh of the 44.8 lakh farmers from the State.
The latest round of disbursement, agriculture experts believe, will provide the much-needed relief to the farmers reeling under Covid-19 induced lockdowns.
