No tax on agriculture income: Panagariya

NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Arvind Panagariya has ruled out the possibility of taxing agriculture income at a time when the government is looking to double the farmers’ income by 2022.

Panagariya’s response came close on the heels of a suggestion by senior economic adviser and NITI Aayog member Bibek Debroy to bring agriculture income under the ambit of income tax.
