Orientation Course on IPM in important agricultural and horticultural crops organized

Kolkata:  ICAR-National Center for Integrated Pest Management, New Delhi and ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application and Research Institute, Kolkata jointly organized an Orientation Course on IPM in Important Agricultural and Horticultural Crops of West Bengal, Odisha and A & N Islands at ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata campus from 13th to 15th December – 2018.

The programme was organized for SMSs of Plant protection of KVKs of Zone V.

Dr. S.S. Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata and Dr. H.R. Sardana, Director, ICAR-NCIPM, New Delhi co-chaired the programme.

Dr. H.R. Sardana, Director, ICAR-NCIPM, in his inaugural speech discussed the interface between the research activities and extension activities of the farmers’ field and briefed about out scaling the various technologies that are developed by NCIPM in the farmers’ fields with the help of Krishi Vigyan Kendras. The production of different bio-agents at farmers’ level was also suggested by him.

Dr. S.S. Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata advised for incorporating IPM Technology in different trials and demonstration, DAESI Programme of KVKs in coming days and urged the scientists to work in a scientific way for a social cause.

During the programme, a publication of “Orientation Course of IPM in important field and horticultural crops of West Bengal, Odisha and A&N Islands” was also released.

Dr. Md. Idris, Dr. M. Choudhary and Dr. N. Singh of ICAR-NCIPM, New Delhi; Scientists of ICAR-ATARI Kolkata; Subject Matter Specialists of Plant Protection from 38 KVKs of the zone along with progressive farmers of their area attended the programme.
