PAU Kisan Club holds monthly training camp

Ludhiana: The state level training camp of PAU Kisan Club organized by Punjab Agricultural University, was held at Pal auditorium yesterday. It was attended by 355 farmers from different districts of Punjab.

Dr T.S. Riar , Associate Director, Skill Development, PAU, reviewed the activities of the Kisan Club.

Dr Kirandeep Kaur, professor at entomology Kang gave tips about the successful cultivation of fruits. Dr Ruma Devi, professor of vegetable science, elaborated on successful cultivation of winter vegetables. Dr Kulwinder Kaur Gill, Assistant Agro-meteorologist, shared the role of weather forecasting in agriculture and Prof Santokh Singh highlighted the role of electronic media in the development of society.

Dr Jaskaran Singh Mahal, Director Extension Education, PAU, released the calendar of the Kisan Club and a book by progressive farmer Sardar Mahinder Singh Grewal. Farming experiences and tips on latest agricultural techniques were shared by progressive farmers Narinder Punia (Haryana) and Avtar Singh Ratol.  Sardar Manpreet Singh Grewal, President, PAU Kisan Club later extended the vote of thanks and Ravinder Bhalooria gave details about the forthcoming training courses.

Dr Rupinder Kaur informed that the monthly training camp of the ladies wing of PAU Kisan Club was organized at Kairon Kisan Ghar in which 51 farm women took part. The participants were given demonstration on preparation of alsi pinni, besan coated peanut, nutritious tikki, barfi made with sesame seeds, sesame gachak and peanut barfi . The experts at the occasion were Dr Harpreet Kaur and Dr Poonam Bakhetia.
