President Kovind dedicates ACARE project to the people of Myanmar

Yangon, Myanmar: President of India, Ram Nath Kovind dedicated Advanced Centre for Agricultural Research and Education (ACARE), an India-Myanmar Friendship Project, to the people of Myanmar on December 12, 2018 in the presence of Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation (MOALI) and Minister of Education, Government of Myanmar. ACARE has been established by ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute as a part of Ministry of External Affairs funded project. Dr A. K. Singh, Director, ICAR-IARI, Dr S. L. Mehta Resident Advisor, ACARE and the faculty members from ICAR-IARI namely Dr Abhijit Kar, S. K. Jha and R. Roy Burman were also present on the occasion.

President unveiled India-Myanmar Friendship Plaque, and interacted with the students and faculty of ACARE. He briefed about the post-graduate degree programmes being undertaken in the disciplines of Food Engineering and Technology, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology and Agricultural Extension Education; launching of a mobile App on package of practices of major crops including cereals, pulses, oilseeds and cash crops like sugarcane, vegetables. He distributed Soil Health Card generated at ACARE to the farmers and planted a red sandalwood plant as a memento of the India-Myanmar Friendship.
