Radha Mohan Singh Visits Assam
Dhemaji: The Union agriculture and farmers welfare minister Radha Mohan Singh is in Assam where he will participate in the foundation laying ceremony for the fourth centre of Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) at Mohari camp near Gogamukh, nearly 365km from Guwahati on May 26.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of IARI on May 26.
Earlier Radha Mohan Singh, who is overseeing the preparation work for the foundation stone laying ceremony, said that IARI-Assam would be a Post-Graduate Institute of higher learning in agricultural education and it will have all the hallmark identities of IARI in New Delhi including all sectors of agriculture like field crops, horticulture crops, agro forestry, animal husbandry, fisheries, poultry, piggery, silk rearing, honey production, etc.
IARI will be fully funded by the Centre and a proposal for 98 staff posts has been approved by the Union Cabinet.
