Rajya Sabha passes two farm bills by voice vote

The Rajya Sabha passed two farm sector bills amidst ruckus from the opposition on Sunday. The Farmers’ and Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 and the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill 2020 were passed by voice vote in the upper house of the Parliament.

Leaders of opposition parties including Congress, TMC, RJD, and LJP had raised slogans against the bills. Soon after the passage of these bills, the Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 9 am Monday.

The Lok Sabha had passed the bills on Friday.
