Secondary Agriculture in Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Sector Emphasized

GUJARAT: Dr. S. Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR visited ICAR-Directorate of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research (ICAR-DMAPR), Anand, Gujarat on Wednesday.

While interacting with the scientists, Dr. Ayyappan emphasized the role of secondary agriculture in the development of MAP sector in particular. He expressed the necessity of collaborative research for development activities in all aspects of MAP with the other stakeholders. He also advised to have databases on MAP and attract start-ups for the development and commercialization of high value compounds.  DG released Annual report of the ICAR-DMAPR and Extension Bulletins on medicinal and aromatic crops for the benefit of the farmers.

Dr. S.B. Dandin, Formerly Vice Chancellor, University of Horticultural Sciences (UHS), Bagalkot and Chairman, Research Advisory Committee (RAC), ICAR-DMAPR, Anand also participated in the proceedings.

Earlier, Dr Jitendra Kumar, Director, ICAR-DMAPR welcomed the DG and other dignitaries and gave an overview of the activities and accomplishments of Directorate.
