Training on ‘Rice Production Technology’

HYDERABAD: The Indian Institute of Rice Research (IIRR) organized  a  training programme on ‘Rice Production Technology’ for farmers here on Saturday.  Dr.V.Ravindra Babu, Director, IIRR, emphasized the need for selection of suitable rice varieties for profitable rice production and suggested the rice varieties suitable for Telanagana.

This training programme was sponsored by (Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Mahboobnagar Division, Telangana. B.Venkatesh, ADA Ahboobnagar and  K.Nirmala, ADA, Jadcherla mobilised seventy farmers from Mahboobnagar, Hanvada, Jadcherla, Navabpet, Balanagar and Midjil mandals of Mahboobnagar district of Telangana.

Dr.A.S.Hari Prasad explained in detail about the hybrid rice cultivation and seed production aspects. Dr.R.Mahender Kumar delivered a talk on the agronomic aspects of rice cultivation. Dr.Ch.Padmavathi deliberated upon the insect pests and their management and Dr.M.Srinivas Prasad delivered a lecture on Disease management in Rice. Dr. P.Muthuraman, B.Nirmala and S.Arun Kumar of IIRR coordinated the training programme.
