Union Agriculture Minister launches app for rice farmers

PATNA: Union Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Minister , Radha Mohan Singh Tuesday launched an app, Crop Manager for Rice based System (CMRS) for Bihar farmers. This app will help for better crop and nutrient management.

During the launch of this app at ICAR-RCER in Patna, the union minster said, “This app will be a part of Digital India Program and also will be linked with Soil Health Scheme for bringing access to new technologies in rural India”.

This app can be used with computer, mobile, and tablets. The aim is to increase farmer’s net income and sustain productivity for rice based cropping systems in Bihar. This app is basically designed for use by extension workers, crop advisers, input providers and providers of services who interview farmers using computer, smart phone or tablet.

This app was evaluated, adapted and verified in Bihar in collaboration with IRRI, the Indian Council for Agriculture Research (ICAR), Bihar Agricultural University (BAC), Catholic Relief Services (CRC),  Rajendra Agricultural University (RAU) and CIMMYT.
