XV Working Group Meeting of AICRPDA

ASSAM: The XV Working Group Meeting of All India Coordinated Research Project for Dryland Agriculture (AICRPDA), ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad, was held at AICRPDA centre, Biswanath Chariali, Assam Agriculture University during 24-27 December 2015.

Dr. K. M. Bujarbaruah, Vice Chancellor, AAU in his presidential address, appreciated the achievements made in research across AICRPDA network and also the impact of the project in upscaling doable rainfed technologies in rained regions. He suggested there is need to bring out   policy briefs in various thematic areas to address emerging issues in rainfed agriculture, particularly in view of impending impacts of climate variability.

Dr. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture said technologies developed across AICRPDA are integrated into various state and national programmes such as Dryland farming missions, National Mission on Sustainable Agriculture and implementing implementation of contingency plans on real-time basis.

Dr. G Ravindra Chary, Project Coordinator (Dryland Research), briefed about the purpose of the meeting.

Dr. Hazarika, Director of Research, AAU, gave an overview on rained agriculture research in AAU and highlighted the progress  under various AICRPs in AAU.

The best dryland farmer awards were given to 7 farmers from the domain districts including AICRPDA-NICRA and AICRPDA-TSP adopted villages.

On the occasion, 22 publications from AICRPDA centres and PC unit, AICRPDA, were released.

Scientists and Officials of ICAR Headquarters, Institutes and State Agricultural Universities participated in the event.

Dr. P.K. Sarmah, Chief Scientist, AICRPDA centre, Biswanath Chariali proposed vote of thanks.
