Government Boosts AI-Driven Agri Services
New Delhi, December 2: Government has broadened digital agriculture services to ensure all farmers, including those without mobile phones, can access essential support through FPOs, Krishi Sakhis, CSCs and state agencies. Digital platforms are also being made available in regional languages through the Bhashini initiative.
Artificial Intelligence is playing a growing role in improving crop productivity and farm management. The Kisan e-Mitra voice-based chatbot, supporting 11 regional languages, handles more than 8,000 queries daily and has addressed over 93 lakh farmer queries related to schemes such as PM-KISAN and Kisan Credit Card.
The National Pest Surveillance System leverages AI and Machine Learning to identify pest infestations early, helping farmers reduce crop losses. The system is used by more than 10,000 extension workers and supports 66 crops and 432 pests, complemented by satellite-based crop monitoring.
The Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Ramnath Thakur, provided this information in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
