Early Detection Safeguards Cotton Yields, Says Insecticides India MD

New Delhi, 22 October, 2026: With India’s cotton production projected at 24.5 million bales across approximately 11.5 million hectares for the 2026–27 season, improving productivity remains an important focus for the agricultural sector. Insecticides (India) Limited (IIL) highlights the role of timely pest identification, effective crop protection and informed on-field decision-making in supporting cotton farmers and safeguarding crop yields.

Regular field monitoring, early intervention and the adoption of recommended application practices can help farmers manage evolving pest patterns and minimise avoidable crop losses. An integrated approach combining appropriate crop protection solutions with improved agronomic practices and farmer awareness is also important for promoting sustainable cotton cultivation.

Commenting on the importance of effective cotton crop management, Mr. Rajesh Aggarwal, Managing Director of Insecticides (India) Limited and Vice-Chairman of the Crop Care Federation of India, said, “Enhancing cotton productivity and ensuring better yields require a proactive approach that combines timely pest identification, effective crop protection, and informed on-field decision-making. Unpredictable weather conditions and evolving pest patterns make regular field monitoring and early intervention critical to preventing crop losses. Farmers must also adopt recommended application practices and rotate suitable modes of action to manage pest resistance and preserve the long-term effectiveness of crop protection solutions. With India’s cotton production projected at 24.5 million bales in 2026–27 across approximately 11.5 million hectares, improving productivity and safeguarding crop health remain key priorities.

He further said, “Advancements in pest-resistant seeds, AI-led monitoring, and improved agronomic practices can strengthen pest management; however, their effectiveness ultimately depends on timely guidance and proper implementation at the farm level. At Insecticides (India) Limited, we believe the industry has an important role to play in supporting cotton farmers through effective crop protection solutions, including SPINOACE for cotton, while promoting informed and responsible use. Collaboration among research institutions, industry stakeholders, and the farming community will be essential to address emerging pest challenges, minimise avoidable crop losses, and support sustainable cotton cultivation”

Insecticides (India) Limited continues to emphasise the importance of responsible crop protection and the adoption of recommended practices to address pest-related challenges in cotton cultivation. Alongside the availability of crop protection solutions such as SPINOACE, farmer awareness and appropriate application practices remain important to ensuring effective pest management.
