Farmers Fair on Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bhima Yojana at Hyderabad

HYDERABAD:  Union Minister for Labour and Employment inaugurated the Farmers’ Fair on Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bhima Yojana (PMFBY) organized by KVK, CRIDA at Gadimallaiahguda village in Yacharam mandal of Rangareddy district of Telangana. He thanked the Prime Minister for launching this path breaking and farmer friendly new crop insurance scheme and encouraged them to participate in a big way.

Boora Narsaiah, Member of Parliament, Bhongir Constituency expressed that the Fasal Bhima Yojana is a boon to the farmers of Rangareddy district which experiences recurring drought and crop damage due to extreme events.

Manchireddy Kishan Reddy, MLA, Ibrahimpatnam constituency, local representatives, senior officers of line departments and ATMA participated in the program.

V.V.S. Rao, Chief Manager, Agricultural Insurance Company Ltd., Hyderabad explained the features of PMFBY and highlighted the benefits of the scheme in terms of low premium, removal of capping on sum assured, quick payment of relief to the extent of 25% sum assured in case of crop failure after sowings/ damage to nurseries, inclusion of coverage of damage due to localized weather events such as hailstorm, unseasonal rains and flood damage.

Earlier, Dr.Y.G. Prasad, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone V, Hyderabad informed the gathering that the awareness programme on PMFBY is simultaneously being conducted by KVKs in 593 districts across the country.

Dr.M. Prabhakar, Head, KVK, CRIDA organized the program which was attended by more than 1000 farmers including 250 farm women.

Live demonstrations of technology interventions were exhibited, literature on PMBFY in Telugu was distributed, technology packages were released and a video on PMBFY was displayed to the farmers.
