Annual Zonal Workshop of ICAR-ZPD, Zone IV

KANPUR: ICAR-Zonal Project Directorate, Zone IV, Kanpur organized three-day KVKs Annual Zonal Workshop in collaboration with CSAUAT, Kanpur.

During the inaugural session, Dr. Akhtar Haseeb, the Vice Chancellor of NDAUT, Faizabad graced the occasion as the chief guest and Dr. S. L. Goswami, the Vice chancellor of CSAUA&T, Kanpur was guest of honour.

Dr. Haseeb highlighted the significance of KVKs in the states like Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, and commitment expected from the scientists of KVKs for addressing the unique and situation specific problems of the districts of both the states.

Dr. Goswami assured the participating scientists of the KVKs to provide maximum facilities so that they may deliver their responsibilities.

Dr. U. S. Gautam presented the comprehensive scenario of KVKs of Zone IV elaborating major activities and achievements.

Besides technical sessions, a separate session of sharing the experiences of innovative farmers from selected districts of both the states was also organized in which the invited farmers shared their successful experiences of income augmentation and profit maximization in various enterprises like seed production, vegetable and fruit production, fisheries production, dairy farming as well as the integrated farming system and crop diversification.

In the plenary session, the recommendations and suggestions emerging from the different technical sessions were presented which were unanimously accepted by the house. The necessary changes made in the on-farm testing, frontline demonstrations, training and other activities were included in final action plan.

The Directors of Extension of three state agricultural universities of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, scientists from the ICAR institutes of Uttar Pradesh, programme coordinators (PC) of 81 KVKs and the innovative farmers of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand participated in the event to deliberate upon the annual progress report (2014-15) and finalization of the action plan for the next year (2015-16).
