Small Scale Lac Processing Unit Established at Khunti Jharkhand

NEW DELHI: A Small Scale Lac Processing Unit (SSLPU) was established at Rania block of Khunti district of Jharkhand as a new technological intervention under a collaborative project of the ICAR-Indian Institute of Natural Resins and Gums, Ranchi. Dr PK Waghmare, D.C., Khunti, inaugurated the Unit as Chief Guest. In his address he appreciated the initiative of the ICAR-IINRG, Ranchi and congratulated the progressive farmers and members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) benefitted under this project.

Anish Gupta, S.P., Khunti also addressed the gathering as Special Guest. He emphasized that this occupation is the best option for additional income for the villagers.

Dr RK Yogi, Scientist & CPI of this project briefed about the activities under the project. He informed that two SSLPU was already established in Arki and Torpa blocks of Khunti district. Both units were functional and primary level processing had been started.

Officials from various line departments and local representatives were also present on this occasion.

Nearly 200 participants including farmers, members of SHGs, local representatives, scientists, and officials participated during the Programme
