ICAR-CITH Organized Stakeholders meet on temperate fruits and nuts

SRINAGAR: ICAR-Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture, Srinagar organized stake holders meet on temperate fruit and nut crops on Saturday  at CITH, Srinagar.

Dr N. K. Krishna Kumar, Deputy Director General (Horticultural Science) in his address as Chief Guest apprised the audience on the importance of temperate horticulture and impressed the participants for adopting latest technologies and varieties developed by CITH for improving the productivity. He emphasized the tremendous scope of temperate horticulture particularly in J & K for improving livelihood and economy of the farmers.

Field visit was followed by an interaction meeting where

Prof. Nazeer Ahmed, Director, ICAR-CITH briefed the participants on the major gaps and issues in temperate fruits and nut production in state and invited feedback from stake holders on production constraints,  high density plantations, post harvest and marketing problems, planting material needs etc.

During the deliberation issues raised by the stake holders were discussed and suggestions were put forth to make temperate horticulture industry more vibrant.

A field visit was organized to acquaint the participants on various technologies and new developments in temperate fruits for enhancing productivity and quality.
