Training programme on awareness of IPM at BCKV, Kalyani

NEW DELHI: ICAR-National Research Centre for Integrated Pest Management, New Delhi organized an Orientation Course on IPM in important field and horticultural crops with special reference to West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Andaman & Nicobar Islands from Tuesday to Thursday at FACC, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Kalyani, in collaboration with Zonal Project Directorate Zone-II and BCKV.

Prof A. Chakravarti Vice Chancellor, BCKV, Mohanpur in his inaugural address emphasized on the urgent need to implement IPM programme which are ecologically sound and environmentally safe.

Prof AK Maity, Director of Research, BCKV suggested the participants to take IPM technologies for demonstration in farmers’ participatory mode.

Dr C Chattopadhyay, Director, ICAR-NCIPM, New Delhi  stressed upon the urgent need of the IPM Orientation course and suggested appropriate measures for sustainable crop protection through IPM strategies to promote eco-friendly and economically viable IPM packages.

Dr AK Singh, Director, ICAR: ZPD, Zone-II highlighted the timely and appropriate action for sustainable crop protection measures. He also suggested the participants to complete application of IPM package for developing more confidence among farmers.

Over 61 SMS from KVK of Zone-II (21 from West Bengal, 11 of Jharkhand 11 and 30 from Bihar) along with 11 progressive farmers from West Bengal participated in this training programme.
