Use new technologies to increase income of farmers, says Dr S Ayyappan
UDAIPUR: Inaugurating a three day Kishan Mela at Udaipur, Dr. S. Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE and DG, ICAR emphasised upon the need of new technologies to enhance the profitability of agriculture and income of farmers.
The Mela was organised by Vidya Bhawan Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Badagon, Udaipur.
In his address, Ayyappan lauded the efforts of NGOs and KVK staff for dissemination technology under National Agricultural Innovation Project (NAIP) and mentioned that farmers will continue to get ICAR support with new technologies, especially in insulating them from climate change.
Around 200 farmers present in this occasion had interacted with Ayyappan and apprised him that they had immensely benefitted because of the new technologies provided them under this project.
Different technologies such as low tunnel technology, polyhouse technology, raised bed planting, drip irrigation and vegetable cultivation for higher income were demonstrated during the Mela. In addition high yielding varieties of crops such as wheat, gram, mustard and 16 different vegetables varieties were demonstrated for adoption by farmers.
