Centre reviews progress on National Action Plan 2020 for fisheries in NE states
GUWAHATI: With a focus on boosting fisheries sector in North Eastern states, the Union Secretary of Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying, and Fisheries (DADF), Devendra Choudhary Tuesday called a meeting of officials from North East states and reviewed the arrangements for national action plan 2020 for fisheries.
The states of Assam, Mizoram, Sikkim, Tripura, and Manipur were present in the meeting and provided the essential information with respect to their states, towards the finalization of the national action plan.
Chaudhury discussed about the requirements of each of states. The Sikkim was asked to focus on cold fisheries, especially trout while Manipur and Assam were directed to make particular investments on the development of wetlands.
The state of Mizoram was asked to pick up cage culture technology for their lone reservoir, with area of 4300 ha.
